Many of you will have only tried the restaurants close to the area
you are staying.
These chosen restaurants are further afield and for those of you
looking for something different, i.e. better value, a more
Spanish atmosphere.
These are particular favourites of mine.
Parilla La Montaneta
El Roque
This restaurant is a few kilometers from San Miguel. It’s a
typically Canarian style restaurant with no menus as such but the waiter Albert will tell you what´s
available. You can eat inside where there are several small rooms or outside in the garden/terrace/bar
area.
Bread and dips are offered free of charge. Several starters/tapas
and a variety of main courses with chips or canarian potatoes, deserts & coffees also available. The
local wine is a must have.
Prices are around 20/25 euros per person for a full meal and
drinks.
Directions:- Head for San Miguel, turn left at the T junction,
drive for approx 4 kilometres until you reach the sign saying Valle san Lorenzo 5 K, turn immediately right
up a steep hill, park 100 metres up on left, restaurant is ahead on the right.
Closing day is Wednesday, opening hours 1pm til very
late

El Cerro de La Luna
La Camella
Situated above Los Cristianos just before La Camella behind the
Camel park. Another favourite of mine with a colourful garden area with spectacular sea views and shady
pérgolas or you can eat inside if preferred. There is a varied menu with bread and salsa, tapas, starters,
main courses and deserts, coffee, local wine, beers etc.
This is a nice place to spend an afternoon or evening with a
romantic atmosphere. With prices around 25/30 euros each for full meal and drinks.
Directions: Head up the hill from Los Cristianos to La Camella,
turn right at the Cepsa garage and park behind the Camel park.
Closing day is Tuesday.
Opening hours 12.00-1600 and
19.00-23.00

Restaurante Casa Camillo
La Escalona
Situated several kilometers above Arona on the road to Vilaflor,
this Chilean restaurant is my favourite. It probably wouldn’t get a second look when you pass it as it looks
nothing from the outside. Yolande the owner is very friendly although doesn’t speak much English will manage
to communicate with you telling you what food she has to offer.
The speciality is the Chicken, although she has lamb, rabbit, beef,
pork and sometimes duck. The bread a dips are the best on the island. Her mixed salads are awesome or the
tomato and onion salad another speciality. Saute potatoes or chips come with the meal. The local wine is very
good. The prices are low at around 10/15 euros per head.
Directions:- Take the road from Arona up to Vilaflor a windy ascent
for several kilometers, you will come to Casa Camillos on a sharp left hand bend on the right hand side of
the road, there is ample parking on the right.
Closed on Fridays
